Ecology, the term derived from Greek word "Oekologue" is the part of environmental studies in which one studies about living organisms, and non-living entities. It also deals with all those things on which we are directly or indirectly dependent for our survival, whether it is living components like plants, animals or non-living components like soil, air and water. The university grants commission decided (2003-2004) to address the issues of environment by introducing a basic course on environment as the undergraduate level.
