Articles published between years 2000-2019 were reviewed and were included based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on this systematic review of literature, the analysis of these components of PICF can reflect the disease status of individual sites and thus, identify potential biomarkers of peri-implant disease status and its application in prognostic significance and response to therapy thereby could prove to be a valuable tool in early diagnosis and management.
