And what starts out as a move to swing some voters, end up with murders and attempted murder. Ultimately, the insurance company pays off - big time. Although there is no real evidence against Drake, information is leaked from the D.A.'s office to the media. The effect is swift and dramatic. Drake's numbers in the polls plummet. Crystal sees the injustice of what is happening and vows to root out those responsible - who stole the painting, who rented the storage under Drake's name, who killed the man in Drake's home, and who is leaking the information to the media. As she begins to dig for clues, attacks are made on her life and she is lucky to stay alive. But on one such attack, she sees the shoes of the attacker -- red fringed, short boots by Eight Second Angels, a somewhat unusual and expensive boot for women. This and other clues she finds on the man who rented the unit under Drake's name move her closer to the culprits. But it is enough and in time to save Drake's chances, as his numbers fall below his opponent? On election day, Drake comes in number two. But the vote is so close that no decision can be made until votes from military personnel overseas can be counted. And the attacks on Crystal escalate. Can she survive? Will Drake win or be defeated by a political dirty trick? Will Crystal be dead?
