When the opportunity arises, the writer (either the parent or the child) writes a message of hope, inspiration, or love to the other. At other times, the writer may offer suggestions or advice on how to solve a problem or initiate written conversation concerning a hard-to-talk about topic. Finding a message tucked under one's pillow on a spontaneous night with a carefully written message is all one may need to have their feelings validated or their day concluded with a positive vibe. This keepsake allows both parents and children the ability to express true feelings and keep them bound in one place forever. This concept started years ago when Jim, the author of Pillow Thoughts, was a young boy and his mom and dad were in the process of a divorce. When his mom would come home late on various nights from her night job as a nurse, she would find a note placed on her pillow that Jim had left her with anticipation of a response in some way. Often a note awaited Jim under his pillow upon returning home from school the following day.
