The traditional approach in CI has been restricted to experimenting with information practices and what these practices can produce in terms of techniques and procedures for dealing with the phenomenon of information. We would highlight two historical events that necessarily led to a rethink of this view of information: the Second World War, which turned information into a weapon of war, developing technologies and procedures for the control and use of this new weapon, and the Third Industrial Revolution, which turned information and knowledge into an aggregator of greater economic value to products marketed worldwide. The recourse to an interdisciplinary approach with a humanistic view of science (user studies) was the solution found by IC to respond to what followed the above events, which came to be called the information explosion and the information technology revolution respectively, generating new paradigms in IC, including the attempt to overcome a traditional view centered on information systems, in exchange for an approach that takes the information user as the center, in a movement from the outside to the inside of the user in search of the meaning of the senses.
