This book is written for those of you who have experienced a recent suicide in your family and are now faced with what to tell the child left behind.This information is intended to be used as suggested strategies for the surviving parent or caregiver; knowing that each child who has survived a parental suicide is uniquely different and the events surrounding the death will vary greatly. Our hope is that you will gain the insight and courage you need now to guide your child through the aftermath of a suicide. Perhaps our experiences will make the healing process a little easier.

Autor

Carol Hart Hoyt began her career as a psychiatric nurse for the Veterans Hospital in North Little Rock Arkansas having obtained her Registered Nurse credential from St. Vincent Hospital Nursing Program in 1964. She married high school sweetheart, Edd Hoyt in 1964. As their family grew, she retired from nursing to focus on raising three boys, Edd Jr., Keith, and Todd. She later became the owner of a local antique shop, Suite Inspirations; furthering her interests in interior design, as well as her marketing and management skills. She sold the shop to focus on raising their son's child, Garrett after the death by suicide of his father, Edd Jr. in 1994.This book chronicles their experiences and lessons learned raising Garrett from an eighteen-month-old baby to a successful young man with a family of his own. She and Edd live in Cabot, Arkansas near sons Keith and Garrett and several of the grand-children and great-grandchildren. Susan Hart-Hester completed undergraduate and master's degrees in psychology. She completed a doctoral degree in Special Education at the University of Virginia prior to working in the healthcare industry. She began her career working in early childhood development, teaching pre-school age children with autism and other special challenges. She served as a grant writer for over twenty years before moving into workforce development and educational programming. Currently retired, Susan lives in Mississippi where she enjoys writing and serving her community.
