Ouvrage Sarts was a petit ouvrage of the Maginot Line, built as part of the "New Frontiers" program to address shortcomings in the Line's coverage of the border with Belgium. Like the other three ouvrages near Maubeuge, it was built on an old Séré des Rivères fortification. Sarts comprised two combat blocks. Due to depth limitations the usine was located on a lower level of a combat block, rather than 30m deep in a gallery.
