Specifically, it traces the histories of capitalist monstrosities through the colonial encounter till today's neoliberal stage with heightened privatization, corporatization and the nexus of the state and capital. It delineates how neoliberalism creates a crisis of imagination among people. The chapters, in conversation across the book, respond to the paucity of discussions in contemporary social theory on the extraction, exploitation and violence of capitalism in India. Several chapters engage with rising authoritarianism and majoritarianism that accompany the capitalist growth story and all chapters centrally engage with how democracy may become more meaningful, participative and inclusive"--
