That statement hit me right between the eyes. Most of us are breathing but not truly alive, so it is high time that we awaken from the blissful slumber of the routine and mundane. Awaken from the fanciful notion that someone else is ultimately responsible for making our dreams come true as nurses. The reality of a free market world economy has always been that each of us is ultimately responsible for our personal financial future. We should not have to face another stock market crash, real estate bust or massive health industry shakedown to realize that each of us must learn to take the helm of our own economic ship. The days of working for and employer till retirement is a stone age model of exchanging time for money. The title of the book makes the assertion that not only must we think along entrepreneurial lines in an age of entrepreneurism, but our unique skill sets as nurses have groomed us for financial independence in ways one may have not thought possible.
