This volume reviews the challenges of urban development around the 28 monuments of national significance located in the Basti, Sunder Nursery and the World Heritage Site of Humayun's Tomb, spread across 250 acres of land in the city. Based on the work carried out by the Aga Khan Development Network over a period of seven years, this book presents a set of guidelines for development around the monuments that are aimed at revitalizing historic neighbourhoods, improving accessibility to heritage structures and rebuilding lives.
