It is known that information about the stimulus is encoded in this pattern of action potentials and transmitted into and around the brain. It is also discovered that muscles are activated by action potentials and that motor neurons serve to convert action potentials generated by the brain into muscle movements that allow animals to interact with the environment, often in response to sensory stimuli they receive from it.
