Trigona iridipennis is commonly called 'stingless bee'. It is most common and widely distributed in India. It is important for its honey and has a prominent role in the pollination of wild plants. Its nest structure is quite different from honeybee nest. There is very limited knowledge available on its nesting behaviour, morphometrics and foraging ecology. The work presented in the book provides some details on these aspects in the context of reciprocal relationships with different plants. The work would be useful to all bee lovers, ecotourists, entomologists, biologists, apiary managers,foresters, garden managers, landscape developers, agriculturists and horticulturists. The work has novelty and provides some new inputs to the existing knowledge on this bee species in particular and stingless bees in general.

Autor

Aluri Jacob Solomon Raju did Ph.D.at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. He did post-doctoral research at the University of Akron, Ohio, USA. He is presently a Professor of Environmental Sciences, Andhra University, India. He was the Visiting Professor of University of Colima, Mexico in 1996. He published more than 200 research papers.
