The chemical methods include the sol-gel method using magnesium chloride as a precursor which converted to magnesium hydroxide, then calcination in the muffle furnace at different temperatures to get NMO. It has been using the fusion method for preparation of NMO by grinding Mg metal with salt like magnesium carbonate and sodium chloride ...etc., then fused the mixture in the muffle furnace at about 800 ºC for ~ 4 h , cooling down the product , washing several times with deionized water and drying in oven for 2 h.
