It is obvious that the authors of the gospels had not been in contact with many of the people whose stories are told in the gospels since their encounter with Jesus. They use the stories to create the picture of Jesus that they want. They cannot therefore describe the feelings of the people about whom they write. In contrast this book imagines the impact Jesus had on the people he met. Most of the stories are told in the first person so that the reader can understand what the characters were feeling as the events described take place.
