In this book leading political theorists of multiculturalism like Charles Taylor, Will Kymlicka, Joseph Carens, Peter Jones and Rajeev Bhargava revisit and use Parekh's insights to emphasise their continuing importance and the vitality of multiculturalist theory. While some contributors locate Parekh in the tradition of British pluralism or as inspired by Gandhi, others apply his theory to a range of controversial contemporary multicultural dilemmas and other theorists extend it in new directions. This book will be essential to students and scholars of multiculturalism as well as those who think that multiculturalism no longer has anything to offer. Varun Uberoi is a lecturer in political theory and public policy at Brunel University. His work focuses on how to foster unity among the culturally diverse citizens of modern polities.
