This paper presents studies on the dynamic stability of power systems subjected to small disturbances, with the application of ESP (Power System Stabilizer) devices to add damping to the low-frequency electromechanical oscillations to which the systems are subjected. In order to analyze the system, it is modeled using the Power Sensitivity Model (PSM), preserving its characteristics and making it possible to verify its dynamic behavior when a certain disturbance occurs. The modification of this model is demonstrated, with the insertion of ESP devices to improve stability. Two methodologies were used to define the parameters of the devices: classical control theory, by phase compensation, using the participation factor methodology to define the best location for the devices, and definition by the theory of transfer function residues. Two electrical systems were used for the study, one with 4 generators and 10 bars, and the other with 10 generators and 45 bars. All the modeling wascarried out using Matlab software.
