He also wrote several historical novels such as Francis of Valois and The Howard Queen. Later in his career, Flagg ventured into literary continuation, authoring Edmond Dant s and Monte-Cristo's Daughter, sequels to Alexandre Dumas' famous novel The Count of Monte Cristo. These works attempted to extend Dumas' legacy through imaginative reinterpretation.
