Their friendship, however, is put to the test when Aaron's mother suddenly falls ill. Aaron doesn't just unexpectedly pull away from Lucas, he befriends a troublesome new student at school who has a negative influence on him. And those tenuous bonds between the once best friends completely unravel when Aaron and the new kid use a compromising video of Lucas to cyberbully him. Seeking revenge during sparring class, Lucas shatters both Aaron's nose and what hope remains of repairing their friendship. But when Grafton High announces the formation of a new interscholastic martial arts team the next day, the boys are forced to confront one another and their differences.
