This work is a collection of papers presented by the author at national and international conferences, with the central theme being the Brazilian federal housing finance programme known as the Minha Casa Minha Vida Programme (PMCMV), with a focus on the programme aimed at non-profit entities, known as the Minha Casa Minha Vida-Entidades Programme (PMCMV-E). The period covered in the texts corresponds to Phases 1 (PMCMV I) and 2 (PMCMV II until 2015) of the Programme, launched during the governments of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and former president Dilma Roussef, when it was at its peak. The texts revolve around reflections on the experience gained from working as a Technical Advisor for Brasil Habitat, which since 2003 has been advising housing movement organisations in São Paulo on how to access public housing programmes. Some of these organisations advocated self-management work with or without joint efforts. Others opted for a global contract construction modality.
