During the 2010 African Cup of Nations, he led Ghana to the finals, there they were defeated by Egypt 1-0. He then coached Ghana all the way to the Quarterfinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and eventually losing to Uruguay 4-2 on the penalty shootout.
