The work suggests that the migrant character of inner city areas is a form of urban heritage which is being lost due to the rapid rate of urban renewal in most Australian cities. The work is presented in three parts; Part One: 'Cultural Pluralism outside Cultural Heritage' contextualises the theory associated with this study, including many unresolved questions. Part Two: 'Migrant Place-Making' uses case studies to explore the interpretation of migrant place-making and associated heritage values. Part Three: 'Cultural Pluralism as Cultural Heritage' suggests a new theoretical position about migrant place-making; including a typology of migrant places in Australia and the heritage implications.
