Nowadays there are more migrant patients in health care than before and health care professionals have limited experiences in caring for people who come from different cultures. In order for the health care services to be equal for everyone, the needs of the migrants need to be considered as well. The content of this book is the result of a final thesis, which was completed for a bachelor's degree in health care. Two nursing students in the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences Helsinki, Finland carried out the thesis. The project was supervised by the senior lecturer Lea-Riitta Mattila PhD, RN. The purpose of this final project was to describe and to clarify the concept of a migrant friendly hospital. Needs, interventions and effectiveness of interventions are described. This book therefore provides an insight into the obstacles that multicultural health care is facing it can serve as starting point for people who face these issues and who wish to get ideas in how to provide equal care to migrants.
