It is with gratitude that I have come to where I am. It is very clear in my mind that one day, I will be an elderly woman. I can only hope that someone will take the time to bring activities to me that will motivate me and reach me on whatever level I find myself at that time of life. Here I am completely focused on the task at hand. Ms. Phyllis and Ms. Rosie endearingly refer to this as me being "in my zone." They laugh because whenever I am this focused on something, I am probably trying to tweak an idea so that it will fit in with the population with which we work, and if an earthquake came along, I probably would not even notice. They are very correct! It is highly likely that I am going to be coming up very soon with some new idea to attempt in my room. They know they will get to be guinea pigs along with everyone else in the room so they nudge each other and warn, "Watch out! Ms. Mel is in her zone again!" Thankfully, they are both the best assistants one could possibly ask for, and they just "go with it." We all fully trust that even if we make complete fools of ourselves, we will do it together, we will laugh at each other kindheartedly, and it will be for the very best of reasons-our awesome participants!
