No one has been able to reasonably explain the general's actuals because he died along with about 600 of his troops. The battle was fought with Lakota, Cheyenne and a few Arapahoe warriors. This included Chiefs Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Gaul, Wooden Leg and others.
