Adobe, one of the earliest building materials used for bricks and construction of low-cost housing. Sustainability in engineering is achieved when the objectives of a solution are achieved without compromising the quality it offers. Adobe bricks being vulnerable to loads and degradation over time when used in the construction of low-cost housing. These bricks need to be durable enough to withstand the loads and degradation over the life of the structure it is used in. This study reports identifying the problems that need to address in construction with adobe air-dried bricks. To identify the mechanical properties of these bricks, standard tests (compressive strength, flexure strength, water absorption, & water erosion) were performed on unit bricks.
