The historic county seat of Columbia was born of the Pearl River. From its establishment as a settlement known as Lott's Bluff, it temporarily served as the state capital. A modern city today, Columbia still embraces a colorful past with its southern charm, its scenic Main Street, and its numerous historic buildings.
