Admixed populations that have arisen in historical times can make a critical contribution to the discovery of disease susceptibility genes if the parental populations exhibit substantial variation in susceptibility. This book discusses and illustrates ways forward to characterize the genetic architecture and to comprehend the genetic variation of population resulting from complex mixture of ancestral populations. The book focuses on some study cases of the admixed South African Coloured, a population in Southern African region with high prevalence of TB. Furthermore, the book presents approaches and related tools from simulating complex medical population genetics scenarios, genetic characterization and mapping gene underlying ethnic difference in diseases risk to post-genome-wide association studies.
