Worldly-wise trapper, Gregory, has agreed to help Fenn reach his destination, but along the way, the two are attacked by a mysterious creature, and Gregory has gone missing. Alone and unaccustomed to life in the wilds, Fenn treks an unknown land, searching for clues that might help him find his friend. Until the first full moon, that is, when Fenn awakes with blood on his hands and no memory of how it got there. What started as a hopeful journey west becomes a desperate struggle against an evil that is using Fenn's flesh to carry out its ghastly crimes. With the help of some sympathetic mortals, Fenn must find a way to exist as a man beset by a monster . . . but his true identity cannot be concealed for long.
