For that matter, many communities are placing greater emphasis on energy acquisition from clean and sustainable sources. Hence, significant efforts have been made in searching for reliable and efficient electrical energy storage (EES) technologies. Of all available systems in the field of energy storage, the lithium-ion batteries (Li-ion, LIBs) appear to be one of the most successful as they provide high specific energy, high voltage, lightweight design, improved efficiency and longer cycle life than comparable rechargeable battery technologies. Despite great success in the implementation of existing materials in Li-ion batteries there is still a strong initiative to create new compositions. The scale of products and industries which LIBs affect shows how valuable discoveries and advances in this area will take place in the future.
