The Life...With a Side of Autism book series is meant to demonstrate how each child can celebrate their unique abilities within their disability, create acceptance and awareness for others around them, and see the beauty of the unique characteristics and traits that they offer the world.

The Life...With a Side of Autism book series is a labor of love designed and written by Dr. Christina Delgado, EdD. I have worked my entire life in the field of Special Education, by becoming a Florida certified teacher, certified in Special Education, earned a Master's Degree in Education, and a Doctoral Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorder. In addition, I have worked several years as a Special Education teacher for children with an array of disabilities. Now, I am sure that your all are thinking, " Okay, we get it. You are very qualified." But the truth is that these certifications are only a small part of why I have an understanding and appreciation for the world of Special Education. The truth is that I have two disabilities, Reading Processing Speed and Dyslexia. I did not start to learn how to read until I was 10 years old. I attended Special Education schools and received accommodations throughout my elementary school, high school, and college years. Therefore, the reason I feel well-versed in the world of Special Education is because I've experienced both sides of the coin. I have been the child who needed help due to my disabilities and the professional providing help to those with disabilities. Therefore, as someone who created this book series as a labor of love, I hope that you find this book to not only be beautiful, but also informative and useful when teaching your child how to use the potty and washing their hands.
