Their mode of action contributes toward the creation of a transnational legal order - a lex digitalis intermedia.Bodo P. Bützler undertakes a multidisciplinary examination of this transnational legal order, considering relevant economic, legal and philosophical discourses. He discusses whether and how (i.e. on the basis of which criteria) a legal system might still be qualified as a legitimate legal system when that legal system is increasingly shaped by private, non-state actors. Zentrale Akteure in dieser Informationsgesellschaft sind die Intermediäre des Internets, etwa Meta (ehemals Facebook) oder Alphabet (ehemals Google). Aus ihrem Handeln emergiert eine neue transnationale Rechtsordnung - eine lex digitalis intermedia.Bodo P. Bützler legt eine multidisziplinäre Untersuchung dieser transnationalen Rechtsordnung unter Berücksichtigung relevanter ökonomischer, rechtswissenschaftlicher und philosophischer Diskurse vor. Er erörtert, ob und wie (d.h. anhand welcher Kriterien) eine Rechtsordnung, die zunehmend von privaten, nicht-staatlichen Akteuren geprägt wird, noch als legitim qualifiziert werden kann.
