The objectives are to determine the prevalence and risk factors of HBV in the different stages of chronic kidney disease. Patients and methods. The study is descriptive cross-sectional (January 2008 to June 2012). 244 chronic renal failure patients are included. Left ventricular mass was assessed by echocardiography, LVH was defined by an LVMI (MVG / body surface area), greater than 115 g / m2 in men and greater than 95 g / m2 in women. The prevalence of HBV is 59.8%, present in the early stages of CRF and increasing with declining kidney function. It is of a mixed type and except for age, it is linked to modifiable factors: systolic hypertension, hyperparathyroidism, diabetes and decline in GFR. One quarter of patients have elevated left ventricular pressures. NT-ProBNP is a useful marker of diastolic dysfunction. Prevention of HBV involves the early correction of cardiovascular risk factors that may or may not be specific to uremia.
