The objective of the research was to determine the influence of challenge-based learning on the development of digital competencies in higher education students in Peru. The study used the quantitative paradigm, the type was applicative, explanatory level and pre-experimental design with a single group that was applied a pre-test and post-test. Also, an intervening program developed in 8 sessions was applied, providing different activities to solve challenges; at the same time the students help each other to find the most appropriate solutions, and thus improve digital skills. The population consisted of high school students in the province of Pisco - Ica. The technique was observation and the rubric was used as an instrument for a pretest and posttest. The study concluded that the students of the Executive Secretarial studies program improve their digital competencies; in the general hypothesis test through the Wilcoxon statistic, the difference between the pretest and posttest are significant (Z=-3.93, p=000), also we can conclude that the intervention program was effective.
