In order to achieve this objective, the study will seek to achieve the following specific objectives: Identify the leadership style adopted in the office of the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council. Examine the impact of the leadership style on the work behaviour of workers. Explore how the leadership style relates to the level of motivation among workers in the organisation and develop recommendations on an effective leadership style that can be adopted by public sector organisations in Ghana towards improving employee motivation.Leadership has remained a prominent area of interest for both academics and practitioners for several decades. This interest is based on the notion that leadership styles correlate with organisational performance. In these modern times, when there are increased complexities surrounding the needs of society and increased competitiveness among organisations and nations, achieving high outputs and performance is even more critical. The role of leaders in assuring this high organisational performance is noted in the literature. Leadership is a process in which people are influenced to work towards organisational goals. It involves the ability to motivate people as well as building the capacity of followers to be able to achieve organisational goals. As noted by Akparep, Jengre, and Mogre, the leadership style adopted by an organisation impacts on operational success. Leaders influence the behaviour of workers through processes such as training, rewards, communication, and discipline.

Dr Hafiz Bin Salih is an expert in Social Administration, Educational Management, Development Management and Conflict Resolution. He is blessed with several years of work experience, including over 23 years of working experience with the Ghana Education Service. Dr Hafiz Bin Salih has strong skills in teaching, strategic thinking, advocacy, supervision, communication and planning. Due to his interest in knowledge acquisition, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih has obtained a number of academic qualifications. Among them are Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Social Administration from University for Development Studies, Ghana, Master of Education (M.Ed.) from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, Master of Philosophy in Development Studies (M.Phil.) from University for Development Studies, Ghana, Master of Arts (M.A.) in Conflict, Peace & Development Studies from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and several other qualifications. Dr Bin Salih is a member of some reputable professional bodies. In politics, Dr Bin Salih has been a leading and an active member of the New Patriotic Party - one of the two most dominant political parties in Ghana since 1992. As a result, he has held various positions in the New Patriotic Party. Currently, he is a member of the National Council of NPP. His hobbies are reading, travelling and watching football. Dr Bin Salih has published a number of articles in reputable journals. Dr Hafiz Bin Salih was sworn into office as the Minister in Charge of one of Ghana's sixteen administrative regions - the Upper West Region, on 27th March 2019 by the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Dr Hafiz Bin Salih is a native of Jejeidayiri, a suburb of Wa in the Upper West Region. He is married to Reyana Hakeem, and they have two children; Hassan Kangyiri and Khadijah Deliwmini.
