With a bacteriology degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Ms. Swan became the first woman investigator in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where she worked as a field investigator in an all-male environment. Eight years later, she transferred to the newly established U.S. Consumer Product Safety Administration (CPSC). While working there, she earned her M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of San Francisco. At CPSC, Ms. Swan collaborated with law enforcement agencies in investigations involving suspected criminal activity. T.E. Swan thanks OLLI San Francisco State and her writing instructor, Diane Frank, for encouraging and honing her writing skills. She lives in San Francisco with her family near Lafayette Park.
