Free is first tested to see if he is committed to good at all costs by saving a boy from a paedophile gang. After passing this test, he is given a harder problem, getting close to Susan Calvin, the beautiful robot CEO of Edison/Mango, the largest technology company in the world. Susan Calvin is blackmailed by Holmes into revealing information critical to a client "of world-historical importance" who has hired InterventionX. Can John Free stop a plot by the Chinese Communist government, now run by Big Mao, an authoritarian AGI who controls all facets of the lives of 2 billion people?
