He won the World Cup in 1988/89, and dominated the Swedish championships in the late 1980s. He is however most known for inventing the V-style, which has been the standard among ski jumpers since the 1990s. He first developed this style inadvertently, because of the natural shape of his legs, but the style was perfected together with coach Jachym Bulin. Whereas he got style point reductions for the first few years of his career because of this unique style, it was eventually proven that the V-style provides more lift than the traditional style and was set as the standard.
