Mary Yana Burau's Facebook posts started with the phrase, "It's a Great Day to..." in the spring of 2016 and reflected her positive outlook on each day's ordinary home tasks. Her Facebook page became so popular that a blog & website, itsagreatdayto.com followed. It's a Great Day to... Gather Around a Table is a 'road map' to help usbring simple concepts into our lives; gather those we love around us in our kitchens to enjoy good food, & most importantly, create fellowship to nourish our hearts so we go out into the world and make a positive impact. After all, HOME is the Nation's Safety. It's a Great Day!

Autor

Mary Yana was born in Flint, Michigan. She graduated from the University of Michigan, School of Education, in Ann Arbor. While at the university, she had the opportunity to live in the historical, beautifully decorated, all-female dorm, the Martha Cook Building, where sit-down dinners with waitresses occurred four days a week and tea was served on Friday afternoons. Living in the dorm and having close Friendships with her five Martha Buddies left an impact on her life that has long stayed with her. Mary Yana began her teaching career working in the Flint Community Schools, and then went on to teach parenting, home economics, and cooking classes. She and her husband Brad, a dentist, have raised three children. Sasha (and Dr. Dan Meyer) are parents to Stella, and Dr. Alex (and Amanda Robinson) Burau married in 2019. They all reside in Grand Blanc and work in the Family dental offices. Youngest son, Zach, is the founder of FlyLine, based in Dallas, Texas. In addition to cooking and writing, Mary Yana enjoys traveling, dance, and teaching Pilates at her local fitness gym, Ascension Genesys Health Club.
