This book thus tries to define and characterize the notion of statehood as it exists in the present-day international legal order and examine whether such criteria exist in Palestine. It explores through the traditional criteria and contemporary criteria of statehood through the declarative theory and makes a critical analysis of the question of whether or not the existing factual situations forming part of statehood support the existence of Palestine as an independent and sovereign state. It also examines the role of UN in the issue of recognition of state and fulfillment of statehood. The book draws up on the authorities of imminent law professors and primary sources of international law to present what constitutes statehood and indicates the position of the law on the issue under consideration. As an academic research this workhopes to render a neutral analysis of the situation and contributes to the discourse of the issues.
