But well before this, a detailed analysis of the conceptual outlines of Islamic investment is done, focusing in particular on the various instruments and institutions of Islamic finance as well as their mode of operation. Thus, for the creation of such an index, a starting universe is constituted with all the component stocks of the composite index of the three main stock markets of the ECOWAS area, namely the WAEMU area (BRVM Composite), Ghana (GSE Financial Stock Index), Nigeria (NSE All Shares Index) and Morocco with MASI (Moroccan All Shares Index), for an initial sample after analysis of 228 companies.
