Intracranial empyema is a frequent neurosurgical condition in sub-Saharan Africa. Once a rare condition, it is now becoming a frequent occurrence, with its corollaries of neurological complications affecting mostly young subjects. While progress in medical imaging has led to advances in diagnosis, the therapeutic approach is far from uniform, and difficulties persist in diagnosis due to the fact that clinical signs are rarely complete. Especially in Africa, where endemic febrile infectious diseases pose a problem of differential diagnosis with empyema. With this in mind, we have decided to carry out this study to analyze the epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and evolutionary characteristics of intracranial empyema, the after-effects of which are not negligible despite increasingly early management. In sub-Saharan countries, where populations live below the poverty line, access to healthcare, and in particular specialized services, is difficult.
