Internet Usage is the prominent feature of 21st century. The contributions of Internet towards the development of mankind are remarkable. Even in the field of education Internet has brought about qualitative and quantitative developments and improvements. The rapid inventions, innovations, easy accessibility, adaptability, user friendliness and multiple applications of Internet is increasing its admiration and popularity amongst people of all age group and particularly the adolescents students. Although Internet is beneficial for the students but the excessive non essential use of Internet by the students is a cause for concern for the society as a whole. Therefore the present study has been conducted to explore the Internet Usage of the adolescent students and finding its relationship with Parenting Style, Health and Social Competence of the secondary school students. The study has been conducted on 1000 secondary school students selected in equal proportion on the basis of Gender and Locale from the Jalandhar district. Stratified Random sampling technique has been employed to select the sample from the secondary schools of Rural and Urban areas of Jalandhar district. The standardized tools used for the data collection are researchers self constructed and standardized scale Internet Usage Scale, Children's Perception of Parenting Scale by Piyari and Kalra, Mental Health Battery by Sen and Gupta and Social Competence Scale by Sharma and Shukla.. The data related to Internet Using Pattern has been determined on the basis of 8 selected parameters (Experience, Frequency, Duration, Time, Place, Motive, Mode and Health Problem faced due to Internet Usage) and the data related to Physical Health Status has been determined on the basis of certain selected Health Parameters(Height Weight, BMI, Vision problem and Hearing problem). The findings related to Internet Using Pattern depicted that majority of the secondary school students are quiet active Internet users. and have been using the Internet for 2-4 years. The students access the Internet at their Own Homes through their Own Phone. The students use the Internet on Daily basis and at Both Day Time and Night Time. Students spend 3-4 hours Daily on Internet and prefer to use Internet mainly for Entertainment and Communication. The students reported that they face the problem of Irritation in Eyes due to prolonged Internet Usage.
