As a member of the interleukin 12 (IL-12) family, interleukin 23 (IL-23) is an important molecule for the regulation of T cells and is associated with the pathogenesis of various autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and rheumatoid arthritis. The IL-23 receptor complex belongs to the group of receptors with associated tyrosine kinase and is composed of the subunits IL-23R and IL-12Rbeta1. In this work, the author Dr. Tobias Klöcker characterizes the part of IL-12Rbeta1 that is crucial for signal transduction using deletion and mutation variants in the cell model.
