Interactive Fiction in Cinematic Virtual Reality offers a narrative model that combines live-action 360° video with an interactive fiction structure to create immersive and interactive narrative experiences. The book presents an epistemology of immersive interactive movies that analyzes their artistic, narrative, and interactive qualities; the production workflow of immersive-interactive movies; and an evaluation methodology for this kind of experiences. This volume seeks to shed light on the evolution of narrative immersive experiences at a time when computer-mediated immersion is rapidly becoming the norm.

Autor

Maria Cecilia Reyes is a creator, researcher, and professor working at the convergence of immersion, narrative, and communication theory. She holds a dual PhD degree in Digital Humanities from the University of Genoa and Communication from the Universidad del Norte. She was artist-in-residence at the Schloss Solitude Akademie (Germany) in 2021, and postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Educational Technologies of the National Research Council of Italy. She is also a member of the Association for Research on Digital Interactive Narratives (ARDIN) and full-time professor of the Communication Department at Universidad del Norte in Colombia.
