It is anticipated that Wifi networks can be extended to few kilometers by replacing low gain omni antennas with those of high gain directional antennas . With this perspective, a Wifi base station antenna capable of achieving transmission ranges upto few kilometers (5-8km) with point to multipoint topology has been designed efficiently. Antenna is best suited for hilly terrain and rural areas where they are limited number of users which are located at farther distances from each other. Newly designed antenna has been extensively tested for verification of its performance parameters both in laboratory and real time environment.
