The cultural differences between indigenous and non-indigenous people generate countless conflicts in the area of labor relations. The different way of seeing work, land and property leads to prejudice and misunderstanding on the part of the non-indigenous; on the other hand, there are difficulties among the indigenous in understanding the customs, social relations and production model of the non-indigenous. In Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), due to these conflicts and the existence of a large indigenous community in the urban area of the municipality, which has inhabited the Dourados Indigenous Reserve (RID) since 1917, there are labor claims filed by indigenous people in the two local Labor Courts. The central problem of this book is to identify and examine, from the point of view of cultural differences, the difficulties encountered by legal professionals (judges and workers' lawyers) when dealing with labor claims involving indigenous conflicts in Dourados.
