Number of effective tillers m-2, number of grains per ear, 1000-grain weight, grain yield per meter row length and straw yield per meter row length were significantly improved with the increase in fertility levels and the maximum were recorded with 80kg N ha-1 (1/3N as basal + 1/3 N at Ist irrigation + 1/3 N at IInd irrigation) + 45Kg P205 ha-1 level of fertility. The grain and straw yield increased significantly with each successive increase in fertility levels and the maximum increase in grain yield was obtained with 80 Kg N ha-1 (1/3 N as basal + 1/3 N at Ist irrigation + 1/3 N at IInd irrigation) + 45Kg P205 ha-1 fertility levels over control.
