Books featuring disabled characters are important in terms of ensuring that disabled children feel included and accepted. However, it's also important that we convey positive messages to able-bodied peers to understand and help all children learn acceptance and respect. My book collection of I. C. Little and friends teaches children the diverse world of special-needs children. I. C. Little isn't handicapped; he's handicap-able! This loving little bear doesn't point out what people with disabilities can't do but what they can do.
