Lange Zeit war es sehr still um die Werke des Hyginus, bis in den letzten Jahren in der Bibliotheca Teubneriana und in der Collection des Universités de France textkritische Ausgaben erschienen, deren kritische Apparate modernen Anforderungen genügen. 1990 erschien bei Olms der Index verborum von Maria Chiabò und Luciana Roberti zu dem Hyginus zugeschriebenen Traktat 'De astronomia'. Nun vervollständigen die beiden Herausgeberinnen ihre Arbeit mit dem Index zu den Fabulae (oder Genealogiae) desselben Autors. Unter anderem liefert dieses Werk hilfreiche Angaben zur Identifizierung der verschiedenen Figuren aus der Mythologie in den zahlreichen Fällen von Homonymie. Besondere Bedeutung wird der vorliegende Band erhalten, wenn mit seiner Hilfe durch einen Sprachvergleich der beiden Werke das immer noch sehr kontrovers diskutierte Problem der Identität des Autors geklärt werden kann.
For a long time, there was virtual silence with regard to the works of Hyginus until the publication of the text critical editions in the Bibliotheca Teubneriana and Collection des Universités de France, whose critical apparatuses meet modern requirements. In 1990, Olms published the Index verborum by Maria Chiabò and Luciana Roberti on the treatise De astronomia, which is attributed to Hyginus. Now the two editors are completing their work by supplying the index for the Fabulae (or Genealogiae) by the same author. Some of the things provided by this work are helpful data for the identification of the various different characters from mythology in the numerous cases of homonymy. Special importance will be afforded to this volume if it helps, by means of a linguistic comparison of both works, to clarify the problem of the identity of the author, a problem which is still the subject of controversial discussion.
