The purpose of this study was to describe, compare, and analyze the undergraduate business administration course in relation to other undergraduate courses at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in terms of the humanistic education offered to its students. Initially, the first available curriculum (from 1974) was analyzed and compared with the 2004 curriculum in order to gain an understanding of the evolution of the curricula with regard to the humanistic subjects offered in the undergraduate courses. The behavior of students in relation to elective and extracurricular subjects and the perception of undergraduate course coordinators were also analyzed in order to ascertain their opinion on humanistic education in their respective courses. The analysis concluded that humanistic education has declined significantly in the Business Administration Course, as well as in other undergraduate courses at UFSC.
